Crossroads Man

I was on my way to the library and I'm turning the corner and I hear, "HEY, GIRL!", and I look around but I don't see anyone.

And then here he comes. He stands at the crossroads and waits for me to acknowledge him. He is wearing two jackets and asks me if I need one. He says he's the Sheriff of Duval now. And that Tommy sent him down here.

"Baby girl, I need a favor. I need a cigar."

I tell him I don't have a cigar. He asks for a quarter. I don't have a quarter but I have twenty-five cents. The man tells me he loves me and then he is gone.

For some reason, it renews my faith.
